Ever since I was a little girl, I was fascinated with Italy. As a second generation Italian-American, I was immersed in the foods and culture of my Italian/Sicilian ancestors, and pretty much assumed that everyone ate like we did. I can't remember ever having a roast beef as a child, and my first boiled dinner was at the age of 53! Sunday and Thursday (not Wednesday) dinner was pasta of some sort, and always with meatballs and a thick red sauce that was made with the tomatoes the family bottled at the end of each summer. To this day, that is still one of my favorite meals. Even though I have studied in Italy and have expanded my repertoire to include the classic dishes of the Veneto, Abruzzo and Toscano (among others), the dishes of my childhood are not to be forgotten.
"Primi Piatti" is the first course of an Italian meal and sets the stage for more wonderful things to come. Whether you are a novice with Italian foods, an experienced cook seeking new dishes, or a would-be traveler to Italy looking to learn more about the food and culture before you go, we can help. Because our classes are limited to private groups, we can fashion a class just for you.
The emphasis of our company is on learning to appreciate Italy: the food, the culture and the people. Check out the section of our web site called "Antipasti." There you will find little tidbits that we hope will entice you to order your primi piatti.
